Sailed the Pacific Ocean for 40 days to research the coral reef fish communities of uninhabited islands. Currently working on publishing scientific research paper on how the coral reef fish communities of Palmyra Atoll have changed over the last two decades.

Blog Written at Sea

We sailed the Pacific Ocean with the goal of understanding the deepest echoes of our living ocean to engender change in order to conserve its magic. We were a group of marine engineers, oceanographers, sailors, and fishers, where we all shared an infinite love for our ocean. My days consisted of being in the engineering room fixing the water filter, steering the sail boat at the helm, counting the number of cocoapods that we caught on our zooplankton net or hauling away to put the fore staysl’ up. For days without end it was just us and the ocean. The mystery and beauty of the vibrant blue water surrounding us 360 degrees, reflected the sky, our universe, ourselves.
